This wall hanging combines knitting and weaving techniques for a unique project that looks like macrame and weaving, but is actually an easy approachable project for knitters! Named after Iona's Beach on Lake Superior's shore in northern Minnesota, the chunky weaving in this pattern reminds me of the pink pebbles at this beach.

-- CONSTRUCTION --
Worked flat from the bottom up, you'll be creating sections of dropped stitches that will serve as "warp strings" later to be filled with woven sections. This project is finished by simply sliding the stitches onto a wooden dowel rod at the end. Video support for the loop stitch and beginning weaving techniques is included in this pattern.

90 yards Bobbiny 3mm braided cord (one skein) or bulky weight yarn
50 grams roving (jumbo weight/roving)
4-6 yards hand-spun or art yarn (super bulky/weight 6)

5 yards super bulky/weight 6 yarn
US11/8mm straight or 24"+ circular needles
Tapestry needle
Dowel rod (16" length, 1/2" diameter)
